Catalyst Powertrain is recruiting for a Truck Service Manager for its Auburn  location. Catalyst Powertrain is a leading heavy-duty commercial vehicle repair and maintenance organization specializing in on-highway and off-highway vehicles and machinery. We leverage high-profile industry manufacturer agreements, use advanced technical implementation and repair methods, and we have a knowledgable, dedicated team of technicians. Catalyst Powertrain drives bottom-line value and deeper service opportunities for companies locally and around the world.

We specialize in transmissions and are an authorized Allison Transmissions dealer and service center. We are also an authorized dealer and service center for Yanmar, Kubota, Carlisle Brake & Friction, Transfluid Industrial & Marine, John Deere, and other high profile manufacturers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the maintenance and repair of on-highway trucks, off-highway machinery, and commercial fleet vehicles. This position is responsible for planning and scheduling repair work for the work group to ensure that all work is done in a safe and timely manner, while reducing lost productivity. This position ensures compliance with all standards, policies, and federal and state regulations for safe, environmentally-sound maintenance activities, while leading employee development and customer satisfaction. This position reports to the General Manager. Catalyst Powertrain is a family-focused privately held company that rewards growth mindset and high performance.

Essential Duties:

  • Establishes and enforces quality and safety standards and regulations for preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensures leadership of service department through integrity, communication, teamwork, customer responsiveness, and profitable decision making.
  • Hires and manages services department personnel through recruitment, training, coaching, and performance feedback. Ensures adherence to company standards while maintaining a high level of productivity and morale.
  • Manages daily operations of the maintenance shop.
  • Schedules, trains, and coordinate work of mechanics and technicians.
  • Ensures project and departmental milestones are met.
  • The ability to adhere to an approved budget and track staff performance and profitability of shop work.
  • Ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Develop and maintain effective service department work flow including accuracy of service counter tickets, high personnel productivity, and other standard processes.
  • Insure proper parts stocking levels to maximize customer satisfaction and optimize the use of company resources for the services department. Work with other branches within the Catalyst Powertrain network to manage company resources when ordering parts for the service department.
  • Execute defined objectives to meet annual service department goals and budget, while maintaining alignment with the Company’s customer service objectives, mission, and vision.
  • Submit all parts warranty and return claims within the required time frame to receive proper credit and maximize the use of all order discount programs.
  • Maintain all department tools, equipment and vehicles in safe working order.
  • Repair and maintain transmissions, engines, and heavy-duty machines.
  • Perform routine shop inspections and report equipment breakdowns to generate work orders and prepare work orders.
  • Ensure inventory of replacement parts, tools, and equipment for service shop is maintained effectively in cooperation with the Parts Department.

Compensation and Benefits:

Includes competitive salary (DOE), $60 – $125k, plus growth bonus, 401(k) match, medical, dental, and life insurance. Employees receive paid time off including vacation, sick days and holidays.

Qualifications – the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a positive outlook and attitude is a must.
  • Ability to work well with others and lead by example and mentorship; must have ownership mindset.
  • Identify and increase supply chain opportunities in collaboration with company leadership.
  • Is safety-minded and has a history of working safely.
  • 3 years experience heavy-duty equipment and diesel engine and transmission diagnosis and repairs.
  • At least 2 to 5 years’ experience as a diesel and/or heavy-duty mechanic working on commercial trucks or manufacturing equipment or both.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor, or other management role requiring a thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA and other federal and state regulations.
  • Current knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to work overtime, and on-call when necessary.
  • Able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb to heights of at least 30 feet frequently.
  • Able to speak clearly and listen attentively and have a positive mindset.
  • Must be able to lift/move at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, online parts look-up and ordering software, dealership management software and other internet-based programs.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and CDL and a clean driving record.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification, a plus.
  • Following items are preferred: T3 Drive.T4 Brake.T5 Suspension and Steering.T6 Electrical/Electronic. ASE T2 Diesel Engine. ASE T Master Certified.
  • Strong references from former employers and colleagues.

The Entry level Technician/Mechanic position is available for a highly motivated, hard-working person with the desire to grow their career in this field. The position requires the technician, under close supervision and training, to diagnose, inspect, and change or repair defective components, sub-components, and systems on various types of commercial vehicles. Catalyst Powertrain provides fleet and maintenance services for all light/medium/heavy duty trucks, material handling units, and industrial/construction equipment markets. CPT provides factory authorized sales, parts and service for Allison Transmission, Kubota industrial Engine, Yanmar Industrial Engine, Odyne Hybrid Systems, John Deere, and Transfluid Industrial & Marine. Essential Duties:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and properly handle company tools
  • Perform maintenance/repair type work (i.e. preventive maintenance, pre-delivery inspections, light repairs, component R&R, etc.). on all types of vehicles
  • Perform maintenance of company equipment/vehicles
  • Provide support to other mechanics with maintenance or equipment repairs
  • Disassemble and clean industrial transmissions and powertrain components.
  • Dyno testing of industrial transmissions
  • Other tasks assigned by managers

Compensation and Benefits:

This full-time role is $19.00 – $25.00 per hour, and we offer outstanding benefits including: 401(k) Safe Harbor Match, medical, dental, and life insurance. Employees receive paid time off including vacation, sick days and holidays.

Qualifications – the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a positive outlook and attitude is a must.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Combination of at least one (1) to two (2) years of apprentice level verifiable training and experience in automotive or diesel mechanics, which may include high school mechanics courses and/or a regional occupational program.
  • Have a good understanding of basic automotive/heavy duty systems
  • Work well with others.
  • Motivated and willing to learn
  • Ability to move/lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Competitive wage based on experience
